Pricing checked: 12 August 2026. PVC planning range: $220–$430/m, typical $310/m. Public universal installed price tables are limited; validate the selected system with current quotes.
PVC is priced as a modular system: panels/boards, posts, rails, caps, brackets, gates, freight and installation. The metre rate is most predictable on flat runs that fit standard panel modules. Slopes, short bays and matching custom gates reduce that predictability.
Module count matters
Divide net infill length by the selected panel width and round up, then resolve the final bay. A 19 m run using a nominal 1.8 m module requires 10.56 modules, so it does not simply take 10.56 panels; the supplier must detail eleven modules or adjusted bays/cuts according to the system.
| Cost item | Question |
|---|---|
| Panels/boards | Standard size, style, UV documentation and spare availability? |
| Posts/rails | Insert/reinforcement and foundation specification? |
| Freight | Included to site; handling for long components? |
| Slope | Raked, stepped or custom infill? |
| Gate | PVC appearance with what internal frame and hardware? |
Repair economics
Ask whether a cracked board, rail or panel can be replaced independently and how long the profile/colour is expected to remain available. Record product codes and retain spare caps or components where the supplier recommends it.
Compare PVC with timber and review PVC system trade-offs. Use the materials calculator in panel mode for a preliminary module count.
Auckland PVC planning range
Use $220–$430 per lineal metre, with $310/m as a middle planning point, for a proprietary residential PVC system. Public like-for-like price tables are limited, so this range should be validated with current written quotes. Source: Current Auckland PVC supplier/installer market review, checked 2026-08-12.
System details matter more than the material name
Ask who manufactured the profiles, how posts are reinforced, how rails lock into posts, the UV and colour terms, wind-design limits, and whether matching replacement components are stocked locally. A generic “PVC fence” line item does not describe panel density, internal reinforcement or gate construction.
| Scope | Likely position | Extra to price |
|---|---|---|
| Repeated standard panels | Within published range | Ends, corners and concrete |
| Full privacy on exposed site | Upper range or engineered | Reinforcement and foundations |
| Short frontage with gate | High effective $/m | Gate frame, hardware and mobilisation |
| Sloping boundary | Project-specific | Stepping, custom bays and bottom gaps |
Illustrative 14 m screen
Fourteen metres at $310/m is $4,340 before a gate, removal and difficult ground. Because the run is short, fixed mobilisation and terminal details may lift the effective rate. Request a component schedule and written exclusions.
For lifecycle and appearance trade-offs, compare timber versus PVC. Use the cost calculator only as a planning check, then obtain address-specific quotes.
